#HelpforHouston

The ACLU of SC is partnering with The American Red Cross and Preserve the Gullah to get the word out about the help needed by the people of Houston as they weather the storm, quite literally.  We in South Carolina are no strangers to the devastation brought by hurricanes and flooding, and we want to extend our help during this truly unprecedented disaster.

Right now, The American Red Cross is deploying staff and volunteers from around the nation to Houston and the affected areas.  Because the situation is so dire, and needs range from basic food supplies to shelter, the Red Cross is asking for monetary donations so they can address the most critical of needs.  Donations go to shelter, bedding, food and medical treatment.

If you can donate $10, text HARVEY to 90999.

You can also go to RedCross.org to make an online donation.

If you are in the Lowcountry and are interested in becoming a trained volunteer with the Red Cross, please call their hotline at (843)410-8467.
