These bills provide that employer in South Carolina cannot inquire about a person’s criminal record on a job application. (H. 3306 is the companion bill to this measure.)
We support these bills because people who have repaid their debt to society for past mistakes, along with their families and children, are currently deprived of the economic and social stability that allows them to fully, and productively, participate in their communities. We believe a job applicant should be evaluated based on their qualifications and not an irrelevant criminal record.
