This bill prohibits all gender affirming care for individuals younger than 21. It forces educators to out trans children to their parents. It mandates a health education program that encourages students with gender dysphoria to seek mental health counseling. Trans adults must receive referrals from a primary doctor and psychiatrist before they can receive gender affirming care. It prohibits public dollars from being used “directly or indirectly” for gender affirming care.
We oppose this bill because gender-affirming care is lifesaving care. Everyone should have the same protocol for accessing necessary medical treatment, and a person's socioeconomic status should not determine whether or not they can access lifesaving care.
