This bill would change the composition of the Judicial Merit Selection from a combination of legislators and constituents to the Governor and governor-appointed members of the public.
We oppose this bill because one branch of government should not be fully responsible for selecting the members of another branch of government. This change in composition further erodes the voices of South Carolinians.
