This bill drastically expands the definition of “criminal gang activity.” It increases the number of offenses considered “gang activity” and lowers the threshold for “gang” involvement from committing at least four offenses within a two year period to committing just one offense.
We oppose this bill because it would likely lead to a large expansion of the carceral state. This bill also creates opportunity for rampant racial profiling.
