Renters’ Credit Scores (H. 3229)

  • Status: Active

We Support H. 3229

This bill states that landlords may not require potential tenants to provide their credit score on a rental application or as a condition to a rental agreement.

We support this bill because: South Carolinians are locked out of housing for a wide range of reasons, including source-of-income discrimination, past eviction records, and credit scores. Eliminating one barrier to housing is a positive step.
