DEI Ban for Colleges and Universities (H. 3572)

  • Status: Active
  • Position: Oppose
  • Bill Number: H. 3572
  • Session: 126th General Assembly (2025-2026)
  • Latest Update: December 12, 2024
We Oppose H. 3572

This bill would forbid colleges and universities from requiring faculty training regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is nearly identical to a bill that failed to pass in the previous legislative session, H. 4289.

We oppose this bill because: As we said following a press conference with the S.C. Legislative Black Caucus about last year’s failed anti-DEI bill, this bill would target universities for their efforts to address ongoing inequality and set up a rolling inquisition into departments of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Our state has real problems, and we would prefer it if our lawmakers stopped trying to create new ones.
