Anti-Immigrant Employment Policy (H. 4615)

  • Status: Active
  • Position: Oppose
  • Bill Number: H. 4615
  • Session: 126th General Assembly (2025-2026)
  • Latest Update: January 13, 2026
We oppose H. 4615

This bill states that if any entity hires or employs a person in the United States with an H-1B or Optional Practical Training (OPT) visa, it would not be able receive any state economic development incentives such as job or employee tax credits, general business tax credits, infrastructure tax credits, property rehabilitation and housing credits, or conservation credits.

We oppose this bill because: This bill would be harmful to both immigrants and businesses in South Carolina. This bill would create additional hurdles for immigrants when looking for employment. This bill also could cause businesses not to hire immigrants, or people perceived to be immigrants, and to lay off immigrant employees.
