Write-In Candidates for Municipal Office (H. 3588)

In municipal elections, a person seeking election by write-in votes would be required to file a declaration “with the appropriate authority” no later than 14 days after the closing of the candidate filing period.

In cases where only one person files for a municipal office and no write-in candidates register in time, this bill states that the office would not need to be appear on any election ballot and the unopposed candidate would take office automatically.
