Ashley is a certified management accountant (CMA) and a certified nonprofit accounting professional (CNAP) who joined the ACLU of South Carolina in August 2023. She was born and raised in Clinton and in Orangeburg County, and she is soon to be based in the Central Savannah River Area.
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Aiken and her master’s degree in accountancy from USC - Columbia. Prior to joining the ACLU-SC, she served as the Finance & Operations Director at Habitat South Carolina, and before that, she was the Accounting Manager at Cactus Family Farms in Orangeburg.
In 2020, Ashley’s father was one of the first incarcerated people in South Carolina to die of COVID-19, prompting her to research conditions and civil liberties in the state’s prison system. This was her introduction to the work of the ACLU-SC.
Before she was an accountant, Ashley studied art and interior design, and she performed as a prima ballerina. She is married with a son. In her spare time she enjoys drawing, painting, and making furniture.
