Courtney joined the ACLU of South Carolina in April 2024. She is from Irmo, South Carolina, by way of Mississippi. Courtney earned a BA in Political Science with concentrations in African American and African Diasporic Cultures and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Furman University in Greenville.

In their early career, Courtney worked on Capitol Hill, in college admissions, and in philanthropy. Her love of advocacy grew during her work with the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network as their Communications Director. Her work is rooted in reproductive justice and the belief that South Carolina can be better for everyone, especially the most marginalized.

Courtney also serves as board chair for Pride Link, an LGBTQ+ serving organization in Greenville. When they aren’t working in the community, Courtney can be found listening to Beyoncé and walking their dog, Zora.
