Charleston was established in 1670 and became the 5th largest city in North America before 1700. Its history is intertwined with the American legacy of slavery as much as any other city in the country. Join the National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC), ACLU, and ACLU of SC on November 2 to learn more about H.R.40, legislation that would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery and its legacy and make recommendations for reparations to Congress. Sponsored by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, this event will feature activists, artists and other leaders in the movement for racial justice.
